Brittany Force: Anxious to improve standing Saturday | CJOnline.com

Day 1 at Heartland Park for the NHRA Kansas Nationals wasn?t exactly what the Castrol EDGE team planned, but we are more than eager to make some improvements and get this Top Fuel car qualified for Sunday.

After two qualifying passes today our best was a 3.84, which landed us in the number 13 position. Coming off a 3.88 in run one, we were glad we had stepped up the car a little and made improvements.

Anxious for tomorrow, my team will have two more qualifying passes where we hope to dial in our car and get placed in the top half of the field. As a rookie team we are all learning together. We have made our mistakes but have also done very well as a new team. Right now we are focusing on consistency, and this car is definitely running more consistent this weekend than it did last weekend in Atlanta.

In a competitive field, our run will not be locked in going into Saturday qualifying, but with crew chief Dean Antonelli, co-crew chief Eric Lane and my Castrol EDGE guys I am confident we will get this car back in shape to get us in the show for Sunday.

Between rounds I got the chance to go down to the John Force Racing midway display. I was able to sign some autographs and talk with some of the great fans from all over Kansas and the Midwest.

There were a lot of families and it is always nice to pose for pictures with the kids that come out to the races. I usually go down to the midway display on Friday or Saturday.

There was a nice crowd at the trailer watching the videos and signing up to win prizes from our sponsors like Castrol, Auto Club, Mac Tools and BrandSource. My dad always tells us to try and spend as much time with the fans as possible.

I?ll never be able to sign as many autographs as him, but I will always try.

Tune in tomorrow to see if our Castrol EDGE team gets to compete on Sunday!
